Is this a film only workshop?

At most workshops film takes a back seat. LONG LIVE FILM is an environment that focuses on film. However, digital cameras and digital shooters are not only welcome but encouraged to attend and learn! Most of our educators shoot film and some digital. LLF is a no judgement zone! Be prepared to step out of your comfort zone and get a film camera in your hands and shoot some film!

What is the cost?


Your ticket to LONG LIVE FILM Workshop will include not only a dream team of educators and film lovers but also covers the cost of your room and food for the entirety of your stay. No need to search for a place to stay or plan a trip to the grocery store - we’ve got you covered!

Where am I going to sleep?

The Alabama 4H Center provides three types of accommodations: Hotel rooms with 2 Queen beds and a private bathroom; Dorm-style rooms with 4 twin, bunk-beds and shared bathrooms; Cottages with 12 twin, bunk-beds and shared detached bath houses.

How are rooms assigned?

Rooms will be assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. Once the Hotel accommodations are full the Dorms will be booked followed by the Cottages. 

How are roommates selected?

LONG LIVE FILM Workshop is about COMMUNITY so everyone gets a roommate! 

If you’re traveling with a roommate you should each list one another on the booking survey you’ll fill out when you purchase your tickets. 

If you’re open to meeting someone new you can list your preferences in the booking survey and we will do our best to pair everyone according to their survey preferences. 

What am I going to eat?

Ever been to summer camp? You get the idea. Breakfast, lunch and dinner during your stay will be provided by the Alabama 4H Center. The Indie crew will have snacks and goodies throughout the venue so, trust us, no one will go hungry! There will also be a few special family-style meals coordinated by the Indie Crew. Southern Hospitality is in our blood and we couldn’t let you visit Alabama without trying some of our world famous southern cuisine! 

Please let us know when you register if you have any dietary restrictions.

Which airport am I flying into?

Birmingham International Airport (BHM). Events will kick off at 3pm Monday October 21st and will conclude 12pm Thursday October 24th.

Do I need a rental car?

Yes. Shuttles are not available at this time. 

What’s the weather like in Alabama?

Late October in Alabama is beautiful! Highs can reach the mid 80s and lows are rarely lower than mid-60s.

What should I pack?

Sunblock and Bug spray! Bedding and towels are provided. Plan for warm weather during the day with things getting cooler in the evening. There are no laundry facilities on site. The Alabama 4H Center sits within 264 acres of beautiful southern wilderness- you’ll want comfortable shoes! There is a a swimming pool as well as a lake on the property- bathing suits not birthday suits ;)

I've paid the deposit can I cancel my ticket?

Deposits are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend and choose to sell your ticket to someone else, please let us know ASAP!

Should I bring my own gear?

Definitely! Not only will we have access to the grounds of the beautiful Alabama 4H center there will be several styled-shoots planned. You will be shooting a lot of film while you’re here!
We will also have a variety of shared cameras available to check out so you can try new gear and formats.
